Police launch manhunt after owner of salon killed in Clairwood

The victim was shot outside his salon in Clairwood. He was rushed to Clairwood Hospital where he died on arrival.

POLICE in Montclair have launched a manhunt for two suspects involved in the murder of Clairwood businessman Henry Abedzie who was killed in a hail of bullets on September 25.

Abedzie was killed outside his salon on South Coast Road when two unidentified men opened fire at him at close range. He was rushed to Clairwood Hospital where he died on arrival.

Police spokesperson in Montclair, Captain Cherly Pillay, said the motive for the murder has not yet been established.

“The victim was standing in the road outside his place of employment when unknown suspects shot him which resulted in his demise. It is alleged that the deceased is a complainant in a case of extortion and kidnaping which is being investigated by Montclair police station. Two suspects were arrested on this case of kidnapping where bail was denied during their appearance at court,” said Pillay.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact the Montclair police station on 031 462 6219.
