Trio nabbed for killing Wentworth man

eThekwini District tracing team traced and arrested the suspects linked to the murder of a Wentworth resident.

THREE men linked to the death of Wentworth resident, Ashton Joseph, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court recently.

Initial reports indicated that the two accused had shot and killed the deceased in Newlands East last month. The deceased was originally from Hime Street in Wentworth.

It is alleged that an e-hailing driver that transported the two suspects under the pretence of a normal trip came forward and gave a statement to the police.

The first two suspects were apprehended at Greenwood Park for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The eThekwini District Detective Task Team also worked on the Newlands East case where the other suspect was wanted. Through intense police investigations, the eThekwini District tracing team managed to trace and arrest the third suspect.

According to the police report, an identification parade was held where an e-hailing driver positively identified the suspects.

Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Ntathu Ndlovu, said the suspects were arrested by the eThekwini District Task Team.

“They appeared in court on a charge of murder. The matter was placed on roll and remanded for further investigations,” said Ndlovu.
