How to stick to New Year resolutions
Maintaining New Year resolutions can sometimes be a difficult task, but by being SMART about your resolutions, it can be a whole lot easier.
WITH the New Year comes new aspirations, dreams and adventures, with many deciding to create positive resolutions for the New Year. However, as the year takes its course these resolutions can sometimes become harder to maintain with people falling victim to their old, unwanted habits.

A great way to stick to those New Year’s resolutions is to keep them SMART;
Specific
Be specific about what it is that you want to achieve. For example, don’t say ‘get fit’ but rather say ‘a 15 minute morning jog three times a week’.
Measurable
Measure your goals to keep track of your achievements. Make use of apps or journals to track your progress and results. If your results aren’t what you hoped they would be, that is okay. Success is never a linear journey.
Achievable
It is important to be realistic about your goals. Setting goals that are too high or difficult will only lead to disappointment and could potentially discourage you from continuing with them. Be aware of your resources and time and set your goals accordingly.
Relevant
Figure out why your goals are relevant and important to you. Why do you find the need to achieve these goals? Reminding yourself about the reasoning behind these goals can help fuel your motivation towards them.
Time-bound:
Set time frames for your goals. Give yourself a deadline to reach a certain achievement, and break down your goals into smaller ones that should be achieved at different time frames. Don’t allow yourself to be discouraged if you don’t achieve your goals within the set time frame.
By being SMART about your resolutions for the New Year, you will be able to make them your reality!
