Two shot in cash in transit heist near Yellowwood Park

Security guards were stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital.

TWO security guards were shot and injured during a cash in transit robbery on the N2 South bound near Yellowwood Park early this morning (March 4).

According to the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson initial reports were that multiple security officials had been shot.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos. Two officials had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. One of the guards had sustained critical injuries and the Netcare911 helicopter was immediately alerted to assist in transporting the man to a nearby hospital for the urgent care that he required,” said Jamieson.

He said the second security guard sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.

According to Metro Police, the N2 has been closed from the M7 Edwin Swales offramp and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

Jamieson added, “At this stage the events leading up to the incident is unknown, however, police were in attendance and will be investigating further.”
