From page to stage with Bluff Christian Academy learners

Learners from as small as Grade R up until Grade 9 put on dramatic performances and recitals at the school's speech and drama night.

THE school hall at Bluff Christian Academy (BCA) was abuzz with imagination and emotion on August 8, as Grade R to Grade Nine learners took centre stage for the school’s much-awaited speech and drama evening.

Each grade had to select a piece of literature to bring to life through a recital of their choice. From monologues to comic sketches to reciting group poetry, the evening was a demonstration of the tireless efforts of the learners and their teachers. The learners also had their performances moderated by the Speech and Drama Association of South Africa.

Grade 4 learners Amandla Makhanya, Tiahna Nair and Draya Dunn perform a group recital.

Ntozinhle Nkomo, marketing manager and events co-ordinator, said while this event is absolutely about the performance, it’s also about providing learners with all-important life skills of public speaking, expression and language development.

“The success of the evening would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of our dedicated teachers, whose guidance and encouragement brought out the best in each child,” said Nkomo.

She extended a special thanks to the school’s principal, Benjamin Mpangase, as well as the Speech and Drama Association of South Africa for their support in nurturing drama excellence at grassroots level.
