In terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (NEMA) (Act No.107 of 1998) as amended, and Chapter 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, Government Notice No. R326 of 7 April 2017, as well as the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (NEM:AQA) (Act No. 39 of 2004), as amended, notice is hereby given of the intent to carry out the following activity.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: Rand Refinery would like to install dangerous goods at their existing facility, located at 1 Refinery Rd, Germiston, Industries West, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. The installation triggers the requirement for an Environmental Authorisation in terms of the EIA Regulations and an Atmospheric Emissions License (AEL) through a Section 21 application process in terms of the NEM:AQA.
The proposed installation to their facility will trigger activities 14 of Listing Notice 1 of the EIA Regulations as well as Sub-category 4.17 of Category 4 and Sub-category 8.1 of Category 8 of section 21 of NEM:AQA. An AEL application will be submitted to the CoE as Licensing Authority under NEM:AQA.
