NOTICE OF A GRANTED ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION FOR A MINING PERMIT APPLICATION
You are hereby informed that the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources Mpumalanga-Region has granted environmental authorization on the 23rd of April 2026 for the below- mentioned project, in terms of the National Environmental Management Act,1998 (107 of 1998) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Amendment Regulations, 2014 (NEMA EIA Regulations)

Project proposal: Proposed mining activity which will involve mining of Aggregate, Sand (general) and Sand (manufactured from hard rock) on portion of the remaining extent of farm Middleburg 231 IR situated within the jurisdiction of Mbombela Local Municipality, Ehlanzeni District of Mpumalanga Province.

Appeal Procedure: All Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) are herewith informed that an appeal may be lodged against the decision within 20 Calender days from date of notification in terms of Chapter 2 of the National Appeal Regulations of 2014. A copy of the official appeal form can be obtained from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
The appellant must submit the appeal to the Minister of Environmental Affairs and a copy to the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (Mpumalanga Regional office) by means of the methods outlined below:
