Bluff ‘viewsite’ a travesty

So it has been like this for years, despite letters requesting a clean-up to our local councillor, Durban Solid Waste and the parks department.

EDITOR – The article headlined ‘Welcome to Durban’ in the 19 June issue of the Sunday Tribune, regarding poor standards that greet our tourists, refers.

See attached some photos from the Bluff viewsite at the Umlaas Cutting, to show our upcountry and foreign visitors.

The garbage at the viewsite is disgusting, and the DSW manager states that it is not their function to clean it up, that it should be done by the parks department, but their manager is not interested either.

So it has been like this for years, despite letters requesting a clean-up to our local councillor, Durban Solid Waste and the parks department.

Ironically, the municipal rubbish dump at Tara Road is kept fairly tidy.

The last picture is of the remains of four showers and a tap (the short pole) at Brighton Beach. The old saying seems appropriate “Cest la Afrique” (which, translated means “That’s Africa”, just accept it).
