Marie, Jenny claim Bluff BC perch

The open singles will be played on Sunday, 8 June starting at 8.30am.

MARIE Sadie and Jenny Greef knocked Dave Le Roux and Paul White off the perch when they won the Bell any pairs this past Sunday at Bluff Bowling Club, with a winning score of 4+22.

They are now in pole position to win the jackpot, which has accumulated to R2,000.

However there will be a sterling effort from the rest off the field to thwart their bid in next month’s edition.

The first session was won by Noel Morel and Robert Mhlongo with a 2+12 while the second session was won by Ken Koch and Colin Nicholas on a 2+14.

The 50/50 board was won by Dudley Dorrofield and Patricia Buys did the double as she won the pork meat raffle as well as Friday night’s wine and biscuits draw.

The club was a hive of activity on Saturday as the men’s and women’s league was played. The women’s B side played at home and won both their matches against Hillcrest and Queensburgh B by a margin of 5-0 and 3-2 respectively. The women’s A side travelled to Umhlali and had mixed success as they lost 5-0 to Northlands and won 5-0 against Lahee Park. The women’s league continues next weekend.

The penultimate round of the men’s league also took place on Saturday with both A and B sides playing at home. Unfortunately both sides lost narrowly. The A side lost to Stella Park and the B side to Northlands 4-3 and 3-2 respectively.

The sides are on the board for the men’s last league games to be played next Saturday so check to see if you have been selected.

The open singles will be played on Sunday, 8 June starting at 8.30am. There will be three rounds completed so all entrants must get to the club early. The competition secretary appeals to those players already knocked out to make themselves available as markers.

Members are reminded about the vegetable derby being held on Friday, 27 June. Take along friends and family to enjoy a fun-filled evening.

There is tabs-in every Tuesday morning, so go along and enjoy and use this practise session.
