Dix bowls his way into men’s singles final

The mens semi-final was played on Saturday between Harold Dix and Dave Lloyd.

WHAT a busy week it was for Woodlands Bowling Club.

On Wednesday in very hot and humid conditions, the any pairs competition was played.

Second session winners were Kurt and Dawn Spack on 2+19 and overall winners were Ken Thomas and William Richardson on 4+16. Gwen Tait and Joanne Jordaan got the sportsman’s prize. Kurt Spack scooped both monies on the first money board and Linda Hewer grabbed the second R40 with Joanne Jordaan getting the dregs of R20. Rex Meyer won the meat raffle. Drawn prizes went to skips – Doug Moore and Michelle Nortje; leads Sonia Moore and Eileen du Plessis.

Thursday dawned hot and humid once more, for the casual fours breakfast. Second session winners were Johnny Goosen, Chris Pozyn, Michelle Nortje and Debbie Nortje on 2+8 and overall winners were Dawn Spack, Kurt Spack, Gwen Tait and Joanne Jordaan on 4+20. Terry Micholson won the meat raffle with Linda Hewer scooping the full money board of R60.

The men’s semi-final was played on Saturday between Harold Dix and Dave Lloyd. It was a neck and neck match, peeling twice. On the 12th end, Dix pulled away to beat Dave 22-16. Dix will now come up against Norman Moore in the final of the men’s singles.
