CONGRATULATIONS to Harold Dix on being Woodlands Bowling Club’s 2016 men’s singles champion.

It was a nail-biting final with Norman Moore clinching the club’s singles runner-up.

The final score was 21-20. Well played to both men.

The first round of nominated pairs was played between Bill and Linda Hewer and Rina Harper and Andy Cloete. The winners were Rina and Andy 25-5. The women’s singles between Gloria Rice and Lynn Carlyle was a closely contested match to the end, which was eventually won by Lynn on 21-18.

Saturday, 20 March was an overcast and perfect afternoon for the men to play their drawn pairs championships. Arthur Carlyle and Tommy Cloete took on Bill Hewer and Dave Lloyd. Much laughter was heard and the winners were Arthur and Tommy on 21-10. The semi finals of the women’s championships also played on Saturday between Rina Harper and Colleen Blenner-Hassett saw Rina win 21-16.

On Wednesday, 6 April the club will host the any pairs competition and on Thursday, 7 March it’s the casual fours breakfast.

The club sends condolences to Chris Pozyn on the death of Lorraine Smith.
