Friday the 13th lucky for Elize

The whiskey raffle was won by Ian O'Healy, a visitor from Hillary Bowling Club.

FRIDAY the 13th proved to be lucky for tab number 13 in the weekly attendance draw at Bluff Bowling Club.

This tab belongs to Elize Stapelberg, and as she was at the club, she collected the jackpot of R720.

This means the next draw will be for R180. The whiskey raffle was won by Ian O’Healy, a visitor from Hillary Bowling Club.

The midweek league team of Clinton Bisset, Gary Moffet, Robbie Johnston and Spider Williams were knocked out of the competition by a team from Westville, skipped by Sandy Miller.

Bluff BC is proud to announce that it has four players selected to take part in the Port Natal qualifying masters competition later this year. Gary Moffet and Robert Mhlongo will play in the men’s section and Sarie Bisset and Jay Retief will be among the women. Congratulations to these players, especially Jay as this is her first time. Winners of this tournament will go on to play in the masters.

The whole weekend was taken up with Bowls South African national pairs for men and there were some really stunning games played. The section winners from the four groups playing at Bluff were from Bloemfontein, Pietermaritzburg and Constantia. The tournament continues this week with the fours starting on Monday and the club wishes the teams of Clinton Bisset, Robert Mhlongo, Eddie Human and Brian Osman good bowling.

Due to the nationals being played this next week, the monthly pairs competition sponsored by the Diving Bell, will not be played this coming Thursday.

If all goes according to plan, the semi and final of the Port Natal mixed pairs will be played on Sunday, 22 May at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club. However, should Robbie Johnston be successful in the national fours this coming week, this might have to change as he and Daphne Reinhardt are involved in the mixed pairs. Time will tell.

Club competitions will resume on Saturday, 21 May. Members are to check notice boards.

This week a question is asked: Are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution?
