Bowls action heats up at Wentworth this week
Bowlers still in contention are reminded that the next round of the Doug Mitchell singles will be played on Saturday, 28 May at 1.30pm.
THE Wentworth Bowling Club Family and Friends development bowls played on Wednesday afternoon was won by Dirk Venter and Johan Swanepoel. Dudley Sanders and Johan Nel were the winners of the biscuit prize.
The 60/40 board was won by Ann Bonthrone with Dirk Venter taking second prize.
Friday’s Bluff Meat Supply men’s bowls was cancelled due to inclement weather. However those bowlers who did turn up in the hope of a game were treated to a raffle and a board draw. Smiler Wilesmith won the raffled pork and Maria Cavanagh and Ken Koch shared the spoils of the board draw.
This week is a busy bowling week at the club. On Wednesday morning, Wentworth hosts the Chicken Shack pairs competition. In the afternoon the Family and Friends development bowlers take to the greens at 3pm.
The field of bowlers who do battle for prizes in the Rawsons breakfast trips will enjoy their breakfast before the 9am start on Wednesday morning.

On Sunday morning the Spurs Big Jim pairs starts at 9am. Bowlers who have entered the competition and cannot make it are asked to notify Ken Koch so teams from the list of reserves can be informed. Ken can be reached on 073-679-3903.
Sincere thanks are extended to Bernie Pool, who headed the arrangements for the memorial service for Ina Davies on Sunday afternoon, and all the members who contributed towards the snacks after the service.
