Hikers set to explore Monteseel, Summerveld

Hike follows the contours of the escarpment and then steeply down to the valley and back.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club visits Summerveld Conservancy on Saturday, 13 August.

Hikers are to meet at 1.30pm at the Assagay Hotel to drive through to Summerveld at 1.45pm. This outing of about 6km is a walk through the Summerveld Conservancy Area, and it is graded two, moderate.

On Sunday, 14 August, members take a hike to Monteseel.

The hike follows the contours of the escarpment and then steeply down to the valley and back. There is a vertigo warning. Meet at 7.45am at Union Main Centre, 45 Old Main Road, Pinetown or at 8.30am at Drum and Bell, Botha’s Hill. Petrol sharing costs R20 and there is an optional R20 donation to the conservancy. This 17km hike is graded four, strenuous.
