Bluff BC green maintenance now in nature’s hands

The Port Natal pairs starts on Sunday, 4 September and the club has a good entry from both men and women’s teams.

PROGRESS on the maintenance work on Bluff Bowling Club’s B green is going to schedule, according to the greenkeeper, Jack Reinhardt.

He advised that the green has been scarrified, vertidrained and top dressed.

Now it is up to nature to assist with rain to get the grass growing again.

Two new members have joined the club – Paul Healy and Grenville Warren are wished many happy days on the greens.

Friday night’s attendance draw was won by Glynis Mackrory, and she collected in excess of R800. It really is worth a visit to the club on a Friday evening because every member stands a chance to win the attendance draw, for which entry is free.

Club competitions on Saturday saw only one game being played, being the nominated mixed pairs. Brian and Paula Osman beat Dave Rowe and Phyllis Maritz. Women and men’s competitions will continue this coming Saturday. Members are asked to check the boards for postings.

All players involved will play three rounds on the first day, and the section winners will proceed to the knock-out stages the following weekend. Players are reminded that starting time for round one is 8.30am. Due to the club hosting three sections of this competition, the monthly Acutts any pairs has been cancelled.

A reminder to the men in the area of the monthly killer 3-2-1 this coming Friday. Remember green space is limited, so get there early.

The club wishes Deon Maritz a speedy recovery. He is presently in hospital.
