PJ claims Wanderers’ weekly lotto

The weekly joker draw was postponed due to the large number of members supporting the annual tournaments away, but it will however continue this weekend with almost R4,000 on offer.

THERE was no bowls at Wanderers Bowling Club this weekend as there were many other tournaments on the go, with Umhlali and Kokstad hosting their annual competitions, and Stella hosting the Lofty Cawthorne Benefit.Notable accolades were the team of Eric Smit, Clive Symons, Russell Shepherd and Ronnie ‘One Bowl’ Hook, who finished fourth in the Kokstad tournament.

Eric, his team and Robin Grobler also won the three half sheep draws that took place on the weekend.

Wednesday’s Lynn Wild pairs saw the first session go to Chris Klopper and Derek Stevens, the second session to Ronnie Hook and Nkosie, while overall winners were Tommy and Andy Cloete. The 60/40 board winners were Ken Thomas and Eric Smit. The rump steak meat raffle was won by newly joined member, Julia Venter. The lotto was a carry-over.

Friday’s snowball saw chairman Mitty Chelin claim the R1,000 on offer. The various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Henry Jack, beef – Rob Philogene, pork roast – Porky, rump – S Lauchars, chicken pack – Sausage Cronje, chicken – Ian Demmer.

The weekly lotto was won by PJ Sparks, claiming the R1,400 pool.

On Sunday, 2 October, the club will host a prawn feast from 1pm to 3pm. Tickets cost R100 per person and those interested are urged to call Sam on 084-602-1110 to book and avoid disappointment. There will be live music by ‘Reflex’.
