Club competitions stall as Bluff bowlers play away
Next week there will be more mixed nominated pairs and the final of the women's nominated pairs will be contested between Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset against Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel.

BLUFF Bowling Club extends a warm welcome to new members Martin and Mary Gaunt, and wishes them many happy hours of bowling with the club.
The final of the women’s drawn pairs was played on Thursday and overall winners were June Foster and Lilah Nel, winning against Bridget White and Phyllis Maritz.
Friday night’s attendance draw was not won, as Lilah Nel had her tab drawn but was not present to collect the prize. The weekly lotto draw was also not won, and the jackpot continues to grow. The take-away dinners are proving popular, so keep an eye on the group chat for the menu and place your orders early.
As the end of the year approaches at the speed of light, club competitions are coming to an end, with both competition secretaries doing their best to ensure all games will be completed. However, there is a serious problem with members who have entered the competitions but are not fulfilling their commitments. The rule is that if a player is away on any club playing date, a leave form is to be submitted at least two weeks prior to the date they will not be available. Public holidays are not automatically ‘free’ days. It is sad that members seem to be taking the route of playing in sponsored outside competitions rather than fulfilling their club commitments.
Last Saturday there were four club competitions played. Daphne Reinhardt beat Lilah Nel in the women’s point singles, while Eddie Human and Jay Retief won against Janice Rodgers and Harvey Simpkins in mixed nomimated pairs. Two games of mixed drawn pairs were played. Glynis Mackrory and Rodger Scott beat Steve Baker and Judy Marais and in the other game, Elize Stapelberg and Chad Wilson beat June Foster and Noel Morel.
Next week there will be more mixed nominated pairs and the final of the women’s nominated pairs will be contested between Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset against Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel.
News of the continuation of the Port Natal pairs is that there is a long delay in the next rounds. Watch the group chats for updates.
On 19 November, the club will host a potjie pot competition. Teams consisting of four people are invited to enter. Take along your own equipment and ingredients. Entry is free, and pots will be judged at 2pm. Let’s see if bowlers are also cooks.
