Hikers take in nature reserves

Meet afterwards for drinks at the Nature Café in Kloof Falls Road.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will experience the Beacon Trail at Karkloof Nature Reserve on Saturday, 15 October.

Hikers are to meet at 1.45pm at the reserve’s main entrance for a hike through the forest, up to the open grassland and the beacon. Entrance fee is R25.

Everyone can meet afterwards for drinks at the Nature Café in Kloof Falls Road. This 6km hike is graded two to three, moderate to strenuous, and carries a vertigo warning.

On Sunday, 16 October take a hike to Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve in Yellowwood Park. Call hike leader Stella Wells on 078-319-8979.

While the Amashova is on in Durban, follow a variety of paths meandering across this popular nature reserve, which always has some game to view. Hikers will meet at 7.30am inside the reserve gate. Entrance costs R25. This 10km hike, which is not a full day outing, is graded two.
