Clinton, Lilah stand out at Bluff BC prize-giving

On Sunday morning the AGM was held and the current committee was re-elected with the additions of Dawn Spack taking over the entertainment portfolio and Chad Wilson catering.

THIS weekend saw the action move from the greens to the clubhouse with Bluff Bowling Club holding its annual prize-giving and AGM.

On Saturday tabs in was rained out but prize-giving ensued in a festive spirit.

Well done to all the bowlers who received prizes, and special mention must go to Clinton Bisset for taking home the victor ludorum prize, and Lilah Nel the victrix ludorum prize and four competition trophies to boot. In addition many of the Bluff bowlers faired well in district competitions, with the trio of Clinton Bisset, Robbie Johnston and Dave Le Roux having their names etched on the honours board for winning the Port Natal men’s trips.

Thanks were given to Phyllis Maritz for a sterling effort in her first year as president and to the various members who contributed so generously, allowing for another successful year at Bluff Bowling Club.

Looking at the week ahead, the bowling action returns with two competitions scheduled and sizzling summer weather expected. On Thursday morning, 15 December, Bluff hosts the Diving Bell Christmas pairs at 9am and all bowlers are welcome. A variety of Christmas goodies await the winning bowlers as well as lucky draws. Sunday, 18 December sees the DJ Lashrite pairs start at 9am and again all bowlers are invited.

A reminder that next month, on 20 January, the twilight mixed trips competition commences. Played every Friday evening from 5.15pm, the competition is a great way to ease into the weekend and any bowlers interested in entering can contact Kurt on 083-453-0272. Also a reminder that with the festive season underway, Bluff Bowling Club offers a hall rental service and bar area with secure parking for all function needs at competitive pricing.
