BOWLERS participating in Friday’s Bluff Meat Supply men’s bowls played at Wentworth Bowling Club braved the extreme heat and took to the greens to do battle for the prizes up for grabs.

Winners this week were Gerald C Royle, Andy Jones and Troy Garland who finished the morning one shot ahead of Dave Arnold, Dave Carroll and Ivor Aylward.

The sportsmen’s prize went to Jumbo Nel, Herby Roux and Johan Nel.

The coveted raffle roasts went the way of Claude Newman who won the pork and Andy Cloete took home the beef. Jumbo Nel and Red Slogrove shared the spoils from the first 60/40 board and Travis Engelbrecht and Colin ‘Snowy’ Howes were the second board winners.

This week sees a bustle of activity on the greens. The group of men who play on a Tuesday morning is growing steadily and this is becoming a regular event at the club. Wednesday morning heralds the monthly Chicken Shack pairs competition. Play starts at 9am.

On Thursday morning the Rawsons breakfast trips competition starts at 9am but competitors are reminded to get to the club early to enjoy their breakfast. Chris Pozyn, Brian and Paula Osman currently head the leader board for the accumulated prizes at the end of June. Can they continue with their winning run or will the teams in second and third place win by enough shots to take the lead?
