Hikers to traverse beach, bush this weekend

Undulating path in shaded area, covers most of Burman Bush. R20 donation towards the upkeep of the reserve.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club takes a hike to Burman Bush in Morningside on Saturday, 18 March.

Call hike leader Philip on 082-417-0204.

The undulating path covering most of Burman Bush is in shaded area. A R20 donation will go towards the upkeep of the reserve. Meet at 1.45pm at Jack Rabbits, 203 Peter Mokaba Road in Morningside.

This 9km hike is graded two, moderate.


On Sunday, 19 March hikers will venture out to Beach Bums in Westbrook. Call hike leader Jon Stevens on 082-459-1522. This hike will take walkers up and down the hills, across a nursery, through some bush and along a stretch of beach, with a slight variation from the previous route. Variety and fun is guaranteed.

The hike will finish around lunch time. Join in for optional drinks and/or lunch at Beach Bums afterwards. Meet at 6.30am at Virginia Airport or in time to start walking at 7am from Beach Bums, Casuarina Beach in Tongaat. Petrol sharing costs R20. This 15km hike is graded two.
