Quins T20 tourney hailed as successful season closer
The T20 tournament was an astounding success and will be hosted again next season which will commence in September 2017.

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club hosted a triangular T20 tournament on Harlequins main oval on Saturday, 1 April in ideal conditions.
The wicket was initially slow but did liven up with its inherently good bounce and carry during the course of the day as the surface dried out.
Qualified umpires officiated in the event, in which each of the teams played two matches, bringing the total number of games on the day to three.
Quins sixth team which participates in Durban and District Cricket Union’s top Saturday division won both their matches, a mixed team of first and fifth team players won the other game. Taine Owen won the event’s fielding award, having pulled off a spectacular catch in the outfield and a superb run out after having struck the stumps from Harlequins’ deep outfield.
Jonathan van Eck won the bowling accreditation for capturing seven wickets and Ryan Baronet for scoring just shy of 100 runs in his two innings, where he displayed some restraint combined with good all-round shot selection. Winston Owen won the lucky draw hamper. Franco, having turned 20-years of age on the day, entertained members with some comical balancing skills followed by Rayven Price who thought he could improve on the performance. However both participants hit the deck in emphatic fashion, entertaining the crowd.
The club extends condolences to first team member Willem Fourie on the sad loss of a family member, which occurred during the tournament and wishes Willem’s extended family strength during their time of bereavement.
The T20 tournament was an astounding success and will be hosted again next season, which will commence in September. The next event on the Quins calendar will be the annual general meeting which is to be held in May or June. Call Ernest on 031-467-3270 for further club information.
