Street stroll for weekend hikers

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club explores a new hike around the streets of Gillitts and down into Stockville Valley on Saturday, 8 April.

Hikers will park and meet at 1.45pm at the Gillitts Post Office (corner of 15 Old Main and Clifton roads), and enjoy drinks afterwards at a restaurant in the Gillitts PO shopping centre. This hike is graded three, strenuous.
On Sunday, 9 April make your way to Stockville Road in Gillitts.
Call hike leader Margie Forbes on 073-437-6915. This walk to St Helier through Giba Gorge will see hikers scramble up to the pylon and Winston Park. The hike continues towards Stockville Valley, across grasslands and past interesting old homesteads before the uphill climb back to the cars. Meet and park at 7.30am at rear of new Checkers Centre, at the corner of 9 Old Main and Stockville roads in Gillitts. This hike of about 17km is graded three and is steep in parts.
