Gary’s team win section at men’s national bowls
The second prize went to Lofty Cawthorne and Clive Symons 4+13

GARY Moffat, Robin Grobler, Jeff Bolt and Tommy Simpkins of Wanderers Bowling Club won their section in the men’s nationals played in Johannesburg last week but narrowly lost in the play-off 12-15, missing out on a chance to compete in the quarter finals.
Well done to them.
Sunday’s any pairs saw Chris Klopper and Bob Hayward claim the sportsman’s prize, while Denis and Chantal Hearnshaw claimed first session and Robbie Carr and Tommy Simpkins claimed second session. The second prize went to Lofty Cawthorne and Clive Symons 4+13, and Steve van Rooyen and Wonki claimed the top prize with a 4+22.
Friday’s various meat pack winners were:
- Lamb pack – Dianne Swann,
- beef – Troy Simpkins,
- pork roast – June Thomas,
- rump – Johan Fourie,
- chicken pack – Darryl Jacobson,
- chicken – Ralph H.
The R600 snowball was won by Gregg McGuiness.
Friday’s lotto was a carry-over of R160 and Rob and Dan’s chance to locate the joker was unsuccessful. The pool is now in the region of R6,400.
The annual Dan Draper tournament takes place this year for the 69th time from Monday, 3 July to Friday, 7 July. Richard and Jean are currently preparing the invites, so get your teams together.
The club’s thoughts and prayers are extended to those members on the recovery list, get well soon fellow Wanderers.
