THE men’s inter-club league continued on Saturday with all three Wanderers Bowling Club sides at home.
The first side hosted top of the table Parkhill and were unlucky to only get a 2-5 result.
The second side hosted Lahee Park but only managed a 2-5 result too. The thirds claimed the best spoils of the day, managing a 3-4 result against Westville.
Don’t forget the league continues away on Saturday, 17 June – check the board for team selections.
Congratulations are extended to Terrance and Pat McGlynn, and Steve van Rooyen and Graham Funnell who progressed to the next rounds of the Pro 10 pairs on Sunday.
Sunday also saw the ever-popular breakfast trips being hosted with 20 sides entering, despite the Pro 10 on the go. Sportsmen’s prize went to Lofty Cawthorne, Clive Symons and Robbie Carr who claimed the six chicken legs on offer. Sessions prizes went to Hillary visitors Doug, Rex and Buck on a 2+7, and Stella regulars Clive, Ron and Judy on a 2+14. Second overall was claimed by regular prize winners Chris Klopper, Eric Swanson and Russell Shepherd on a 4+14. Overall victors were Norman Moore, Colin Nicholas and Tommy Cloete. Well done.
Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Porky, beef – Hennie Geldenhuys, pork roast – John Thomasson, rump – Troy Simpkins, chicken pack – Des Demmer, chicken – Chris Fourie.
The R700 snowball was a carry-over, as HLM Michael Wagner was not present.
Friday’s lotto was won on a pool of R450 by Cyril Jackson. John Thomasson was unsuccessful in locating the joker, but he did claim the R50 on offer. The pool is now in the region of R8,500.
