LAST weekend saw the men’s senior singles final take place at Wanderers Bowling Club with Robin Grobler overcoming Errol Pienaar 21-14.

At the same time Steve van Rooyen represented the club in the Champion of Champions.

He won his first game, but lost the next round to eventual finalist Robert Mhlongo. Well done to them.

On Wednesday, 9 August the club celebrates Women’s Day with a buffet lunch starting at 1pm. Roast chicken, roast lamb, seasonal vegetables, chicken and prawn curry and lamb curry are included. The cost is R80 per person and booking is essential. Contact Samantha on 081-486-7039.

Taffy pairs will also be hosted in the morning at 8.30am for a 9am start, so call Ken for more details on 073-613-9733 or to enter a side.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Tash, beef – Rob Philogene, pork roast – Rob Philogene, rump – Big Ed, chicken pack – Ian Demmer, chicken – Deon Le Roux.

The R800 snowball was a carry-over as Paul White was not present.

The Friday lotto of R270 was a carry-over. Trish won the chance to locate the joker, but she was unsuccessful. She decided to keep the R50 on offer and take some more tickets for this week’s draw as the pool is now worth about R14,500.

Thoughts and prayers are extended to those members on the recovery list, get well soon fellow Wanderers.
