Hikers set to topple KZN’s Table Mountain

On Sunday, 3 September explore KZN Table Mountain (Cato Ridge).

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club hikes to Delville Wood in Shongweni on Saturday, 2 September.

Hikers will meet at 1.30pm at the closed Assagay Hotel/Engen Garage at 571 Kassier Road to depart at 1.45pm to the parking area. This hike takes one through interesting old tunnels and to a waterfall. It is a bit strenuous at the end. Hikers will enjoy drinks afterwards at the Polo Pony. This 9km hike is graded two, moderate with one steep uphill.

On Sunday, 3 September hikers will explore KZN’s Table Mountain in Cato Ridge. To confirm attendance, call hike leader Philip Collyer on 082-417-0204.

This hike to the top of the local version of Table Mountain will see hikers enjoy some of the escarpment and wonderful views of the Valley of 1,000 Hills, the Midlands in the far distance, the Msunduzi and Umgeni rivers as well as Nagle Dam. Meet at 7.30am at Union Main Centre, 45 Old Main Road in Pinetown or at 8.15am at Cato Ridge Motors (close to Eddie Haven Drive, Cato Ridge). Petrol sharing costs R40. Car guard R20. Guide R25 members, R50 non-members. This 14km hike is graded four, strenuous.
