Two Bluff BC teams advance to Port Natal district pairs knockouts

The club is holding a Jumble sale on Saturday, 30 September and members are asked to contact Dawn Spack if they have any donations.

THE Port Natal district pairs got off to a good start for Bluff Bowling Club this weekend, as two of its teams won their sections to go through to the knockout rounds on Saturday.

The club congratulates Elize Stapelberg and Chrissie Smith as well as Spider Williams and Hilton Lassak.

In the sections that played at the Bluff club, section one winners were M Rogers from Lahee Park, while the victor in section two was M Morrison from Parkhill and section three, T Potgieter from Stella Park.

On Friday, the 3-2-1 killer sponsored by June and Glynis saw first session go to Colin Nicholas, Dudley Dorrofield and Andy Jones. Second session went to Alan Bird, Tom Cloete and Ivor Aylward, while overall winners were Jumbo Nel, Robbie Carr and Gerald Chandler-Royle.

The sportsman’s prize went to Kokkie de Kok and Errol Pienaar. Kokkie also had the most touchers, while the board prize went to Robbie Carr and the meat to Allen Ritchie.

In a men’s final of the trips competition, winners for this year are Gary Moffat, Jorge Santos and Michael Schrudel who beat Robert Mhlongo, Noel Morel and Deon Els. In a women’s point singles game, Daphne Reinhardt beat Elize Stapelberg.

Friday night’s attendance draw was won by Gary Moffat who was there to collect his bounty. The joker draw was won by Ronel Morel who unfortunately could not find the joker. The carry-over is now R3,600. The lotto draw was not won so it is also a carry-over.

On a sad note, the club regrets to announce the death of Deon Maritz on Friday. The club’s condolences go to Phyllis and all the family. Deon will be sorely missed at Bluff Bowling Club.
