Wonke clinches Port Natal U20 bowls squad berth

SATURDAY saw the tabs in regulars brace the heat in an one-sided affair at Wanderers Bowling Club.
Chris Klopper, Errol Pienaar, Eric Swanson and Robbie Spiller gave the opposition a bowling lesson, beating Richard Hendicott, Jeff Bolt, Peter Prenger and Dave Matthews 32-9.
Chris Klopper and Robbie Spiller teamed up again at the Sunday any pairs where they wrestled the sportsman’s prize from Robbie Carr and Trish Overington with a 0-5.
First session went to Wonke and Chantal on a 2+8, with Jimmy Neill and Jeff Bolt claiming the second session on a 2+4. Second prize overall went to Lofty Cawthorne and his ever-improving lead Clive Symons on a 4+4. Mike and Jackie Freeman claimed the overall prize on a 4+20.
The club congratulates Wonke who has been selected to represent Port Natal in the U20s squad. The club wishes him well in the upcoming tournaments.
Members are reminded that subs are now due, so make arrangements to settle these. The men’s drawn fours will take place on Saturday, 27 January, so put your tabs in at 12.30pm. Entries for the Port Natal men’s and women’s singles are on the board and close on 26 January at noon, so put your names down by Thursday.
Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Darryl Jacobson, rolled beef – Kayla, pork roast – Brian Craig, rump – Brian Craig, chicken pack – Kayla, chicken – Hayley.
The R800 snowball was won by ever-present Lofty Cawthorne – congratulations to him. The Friday lotto has been postponed until later in the month. The joker draw was won by everyone’s new friend Dave Leuchars on Friday with a healthy R32,500 going his way. Dave was not present on the evening so Sagie Naidoo was asked to turn a card on his behalf. Well done to them. Watch this space for details on when the next draw will begin.
