From Pigeon Valley to Westbrook for weekend hikers

Saturday - Pigeon Valley Nature Reserve. Sunday - Beach Bums in Westbrook.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club heads to central Durban for a hike to and through Pigeon Valley Nature Reserve in Glenwood on Saturday, 3 March.

Call hike leader Tina on 083-289-6276 for this easy to moderate walk which is graded one to two.

It has two uphills, covers a distance of about 6km and includes some street walking to the pretty little Pigeon Valley Nature Reserve. The steep hills go up to St Augustine’s Hospital and the university.

Hikers can enjoy drinks afterwards at a nearby pub.

Hikers are to meet at 1.45pm at Stella Sports Club which is at 175 Helen Joseph (ex-Davenport) Road in

Glenwood.

 

On Sunday, 4 March, Jill Dunstone will lead hikers to Beach Bums in Westbrook.

This 15km hike is graded two (moderate) is up and down the hills, across a nursery, through some bush and along a bit of beach. It will finish around lunchtime. Enjoy optional drinks or lunch at Beach Bums afterwards. Petrol sharing costs R20.
