Three Wanderers BC sides progress in Port Natal trips

Members are reminded that subs are now due, and are urged to make arrangements to settle these.

SATURDAY saw the start of the men’s inter-club league but even a surprise visit from bowls stalwart Jean Edley couldn’t prevent the visitors Umhlali from taking the game 4-3 from the Wanderers first side in a closely contested affair.

The second and third sides did battle against each other with the second side claiming the spoils 5-2.

On Sunday the men’s Port Natal trips took place. Wanderers hosted 12 teams and the home side of Robin Grobler, Jeff Bolt and Robbie Spiller were unlucky to lose on a count out in their section. However, the other teams of Anthony Carr, Richard Hendicott And Robbie Carr; Steve van Rooyen, Graham Funnell and Wonke Somtseu; and Paul White, Dave Le Roux and Mike Freeman all won their sections to progress to the fourth round. Well done to them and good luck in the next rounds on Saturday, 14 April.

Members are reminded that subs are now due, and are urged to make arrangements to settle these.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack Barbara P, beef roast Justin Reid, pork roast Mitty, rump Derek Rowsell, chicken pack Brian Craig, chicken Porky.

The R700 snowball was won by Cliffie Waldek, while the lotto of R320 was won by Chris Fourie. Joker draw sales have begun, so buy your tickets from Dianne or Clive.

The club’s thoughts and prayers are extended to those members on the recovery list, get well soon fellow Wanderers.
