Ramblers to set out on historical walk through old Durban

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club's weekend outings will see them engage in a beach clean-up south of the city and venture into historical Hillary.

On Saturday, 20 October hikers will investigate historical Hillary along with hike leader Arthur.

Call him on 083-482-3590 about this grade one, easy hike of about 6km which will take in some of ‘old Durban’. Walkers will undertake a circular route through various parks and along the streets of Malvern. Meet at 1.45pm in the parking space adjacent to Hillary Bowling Club and Hillary Primary School in Stella Road, off Sarnia Road.

On Sunday, 21 October, hikers will venture out from Toti Golf Course to Toti Beach on a clean-up hike.

Call hike leader Jill on 084-780-0818 about this grade one hike which will cover 7kms on the beach each way. Arrive armed with black rubbish bags to be filled with plastic litter as you hike along the beach to the Thirsty Whale at Toti Beach for drinks/brunch. Hikers will walk back along the beach afterwards. Depart at 8.30am from Glenwood shopping centre or meet at 9am at the Toti golf course parking area (second Prospecton turn-off, after Toyota factory).
