It’s a winning streak family affair for the Garlands at Wentworth Bowling Club
The Garlands, as a family, have embraced the game of lawn bowls and are proof that it is truly one sport for life.

THE Wentworth Bowling Club record books will document a historical event from Saturday, September 25.
The Grace Hare mixed trips final saw Simon Garland play the game of his life when he skipped his son, Troy, and his granddaughter, MacKenzie, to champion status – a team that spans three generations. The Garlands, as a family, have embraced the game of lawn bowls and are proof that it is truly one sport for life.

Sunday, September 26, saw Simon on the podium again when he paired with Spider Williams to take the first prize in the monthly Big Jim pairs competition with a 4 plus 26, sneaking ahead of Graham Bransby and Luvuyo Ndava by two shots. The second session prize went to Denzil Lewis and Wayne Booysens, who won their game with a plus 13. Denzil added to his spoils when he, and Russell Fuller, pocketed the winnings from the 60/ 40 board.
A very successful fun day of bowls was enjoyed by the members and their friends on Heritage Day. It was a day on which bowls was the winner, as many new faces took to the green and slowly mastered the bias to enjoy some surprisingly competitive games.
The community is reminded of the open invitation to their development bowls on a Wednesday from 14:00. These games are played in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and participants are not required to be members of the club. An added attraction will be the coaching by Dawn Spack, who has volunteered to run.
Dawn will take small groups and work on their stance on the mat and delivery of the bowl. Lawn bowls is a healthy outdoor activity that can be played socially or more competitively, and can be played by anyone, regardless of age or physical ability.
