Bluff drummies selected for SA team
Although the girls have worked incredibly hard for this opportunity, they need to fund their own travel, accommodation, and kit expenses.
THREE young majorettes from The Bluff have been selected for the South African national team and have their hearts set on being awarded their Protea colours when they head to Croatia to compete at the MWF World Championships in September.
Maddison Acacia, Casey Collett, and Ryleigh Wybrow achieved their KZN colours in January, and then earned their South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (SAMCA) colours less than two months later.

But, their greatest honour was being chosen to represent South Africa as part of the national team.
“Just watching the video of the team announcement was emotional for me, being chosen for the SA team is a huge honour and something I have always wanted,” said Acacia, who is part of the Durban Girls’ High School majorette team.
Collett and Wybrow, both members of the Fynnland Crest Majorettes team, echoed the same sentiments. “I am very grateful that I’ve been chosen to compete in Croatia,” Wybrow said, while adding that she is also excited and nervous. Collett was proud of the amazing opportunity that she had been given. “I am extremely honoured to represent my country on a global stage in a sport that I am passionate about. I would like to thank my coaches for encouraging me and pushing me, and I am proud of myself for achieving my dream goal.”

The girls each train for at least 18 hours a week, either with their teams or individually, in order to improve their skills and achieve the accolades they have been awarded, and are not only preparing for local competitions and the SA Championships, but looking forward to their first SA Team practice at the end of the month. The MWF World Championships will be held at the end of September in Zadar, Croatia, and the team members may also be honoured with their Protea colours, just as those in previous years have been.
Although the girls have worked incredibly hard for this opportunity, they need to fund their own travel, accommodation, and kit expenses. They are therefore looking for any sponsors who may be able to assist with contributions towards these costs or prize donations for various joint fundraising measures they are working on.
Any individuals or companies who would like to help make dreams of the three girls come true, contact Fynnland Crest Majorettes coach, Bonny Fourie on 072 999 9106, or chairman, Renise Collett on 084 307 2864.
