The morning started on the basketball court, with Grosvenor Girls producing an amazing display as they took an 18-10 victory. Their synchronised movement and game strategy were too much for Mowat Park’s squad to contend with. Grosvenor’s sports co-ordinator, Robyn Wyngaard, praised the players for their teamwork and dedication to practise, additionally crediting their coach for preparation prior to the match.

Mowat Park responded powerfully on the football pitch, earning a 2-0 win. They opened early and maintained consistent pressure throughout. Despite losing, Grosvenor was tough in play, particularly during the second half, with their opponents tested at every aspect.

Wyngaard commended the team effort but noted that basic skills had to be bettered and also that team integration was important.

“The girls will focus on building a stronger defensive unit and building up our wings, our striker, and off-the-ball movement. With our full-time coach in place, we will assess the strength of each player and work on building their skills in their areas of need. We will focus more on fitness and communication to become better organised and strategic for our next game,” said Wyngaard.

She also said both matches were worthwhile learning experiences and that she cannot wait to see the team’s development in the future.
