JMPD arrests two suspects in Jeppestown drug bust
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU) seized a large quantity of drugs and cash during a proactive operation in Jeppestown, resulting in the arrest of two suspects.
Officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit (TRU) arrested two men and confiscated a significant quantity of narcotics, cash, and drug-related paraphernalia during a proactive patrol operation in Jeppestown.
On Thursday, September 5, JMPD TRU officers were conducting routine patrols when they observed a man acting suspiciously.
Upon approaching the individual and conducting a search, officers discovered a black plastic packet containing 220 small foil balls of rock cocaine.

The suspect, a Nigerian national, claimed his passport was at his residence. Officers accompanied him to the property, where they found a second man, a Cameroonian national.
While waiting for the suspects to produce their documents, officers noticed foil wrapping scattered throughout the room.
A thorough inspection led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of nyaope, scales, packaging materials, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both men were arrested and detained at Jeppe SAPS on charges of dealing in narcotics. They are expected to appear in court soon.
The JMPD commended the TRU for their proactive policing, which has contributed to disrupting drug distribution networks in the city.
