One would think it was a feature race for all of them, but instead they clash in a Graduation Plate over 1000m at Kenilworth in Race 7 today.

Guiness and Harry Lime have met twice and the score stands at one-all. Guiness won the initial big clash at Scottsville in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion over 1200m where Harry Lime finished 6.50 lengths adrift. One needs to take that result with a pinch of salt as Harry Lime had a terrible draw on the outside of the track while Guiness fought off all challengers on the inside.

It was a brave win from Guiness, one he fully deserved. Harry Lime on the other hand showed pace but did not quicken.

They met again in July this year over the 1400m with Harry Lime and Guiness finishing unplaced behind Afrikaburn in the Grade 1 Durban Golden Horseshoe. This time it was Harry Lime who was 2.40 lengths ahead of Guiness. Both, however, had excuses with Guiness showing good pace but hanging very badly and Harry Lime reportedly coughing.

If the handicapper has his sums right then Guiness should be giving Harry Lime 7kg but they meet on level terms so in that sense it is advantage Guiness.

Nevertheless, Harry Lime has had one run already this season so might strip the fitter horse. Both of them are clearly being prepared for bigger races than this.

Stable companion to Guiness is Beckedorf and this AP Answer gelding is clearly not out of it. Jockey MJ Byleveld has deserted his stable (Vaughan Marshall) to take the ride on a runner who is at his very best over this minimum trip.
