You Beauty to go one better

Yoshie has to be one of the best sprinters based in Port Elizabeth so one needs to respect any runners who can get within 0.50 lengths of her, even though they were receiving 6kg.

You Beauty has had two runs in Port Elizabeth since moving up from the Western Cape and both have been most encouraging. On her first local appearance this Glen Kotzen-trained runner went down a neck to Benedict in a MR 80 Handicap over 1000m on the turf. That was a decent effort, particularly if one takes into account this four-year-old daughter of Carpocrates was giving 5.5kg to the Yvette Bremner-trained gelding.

In her next outing You Beauty raced in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m at the same track and went down 0.50 lengths to Yoshie. Once again she was taking on the boys and ran on well off a light weight.

Today You Beauty runs in Race 8, a MR 80 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1000m and against her own sex should be very hard to beat. As she finished second in that Pinnacle Stakes You Beauty cannot be penalised and but clearly ran to a higher merit rating than her current 78.  If that is the case she should have a massive advantage over her rivals.

She stands out as the best bet on the card, the only concern being if the meeting is switched to the Polytrack as happened last Friday when heavy rains made the turf track unusable. You Beauty has not raced on the surface but she had won around the turn, so that would not be a problem.

Muzi Yeni takes the ride for the first time.

Untamed ran a shocker last time but she was reported not to be striding out. Prior to that her form had been very consistent, both on turf and Polytrack. However, this Justin Snaith-trained runner would probably prefer an extra 200m but has a very competent rider in Richard Fourie.
