Killua Castle, Tommy Gun The Citizen’s Charity Mile hopefuls
The field of 16 runners for this year's Emperors Palace Charity Mile, already matched up with their respective celebrities and charitable organisation's, found out which gate they'll jump from on November 1 at the barrier draw on Wednesday.

The process was a relatively simple one during proceedings at the casino venue with each of the numbers were picked out of a hat by their respective connections.
This year’s renewal of the Grade Two contest at Turffontein Racecourse will see The Citizen have two equine representatives in the field with Tommy Gun running for the newspaper while Killua Castle will run for weekly soccer supplement, Phakaaathi.
Tasked with pulling numbers for the two runners, publisher Eureka Zandberg, managed to land a plum draw for Killua Castle after pulling gate five while Tommy Gun will have a bit of work to do from the 13 draw.
There will also be charitable organisations that will benefit based on the finishing order of the field with beneficiaries all set for a share of R550 000. The headline sponsors announced this afternoon that next year’s stake for the charities will increase to R1-million.
Jongimfundo Primary After Care Centre and Khangezile Primary After Care Centre are the two charities that are associated with The Citizen’s runners on the day.
