Showing a zest for racing

Trainer Duncan Howells has his string in fine fettle and none more so than five-year-old Zestful and this combination looks likely to take Race 7, the It’s A Rush MR 95 Divided Handicap on the turf at Greyville tonight.

Zestful had a good start to his career but was winless for some time before finally coming good last time for victory number four.

Jockey Stuart Randolph had looked unlucky not to have won his previous start when getting badly baulked over this distance on the Polytrack in November but was quick to make amends when scoring easily by 2.25 lengths last month over Scottsville 1600m.

The drop in trip will not be a problem but he did received five points for his last win.

Isobar has always given the impression he likes the sand and the Polytrack better than turf but his last run on this surface was a good one and he does deserve the utmost respect. Apprentice Nicholas Patel has been given the responsibility of putting his 4kg claim into maximum effect.

Acapulco and Royal Zulu Guard both have ability but do not always show it so can be considered more for place bets than to win.

Kingston Boy is a decent sprinter on his day and tries this longer trip for the first time and he might well prefer it.
