‘Corona Break’ ain’t no good for nobody

Earlier this week my four-year-old son comforted his two-year-old brother telling him that I would soon leave for work and they can then watch their cartoon freely.

This was after I had refused to give in to their persistent calls for the cartoon channels on TV.
They usually have the freedom in the afternoons and watch whatever channels they want. But with the country under quarantine as the coronavirus continues to run rampage, and football being postponed, I have had to stay home most of the time and spend time with them.
They are a lovely bunch of little people who think they are the axis around which the world revolves. With no live football anywhere, I have been feeding my craving for the game on repeats. Don’t judge me, but I have also done ‘match reports’ from these repeats just for the thrill of it and also to not rust away while we sit idle, hoping the pandemic disappears just as quickly as it came.
Mine is an easy task because all I need to hone my skills and “keep fit” for work is a laptop and a game – it doesn’t matter whether it was played two or four years ago.
Now spare a thought for the players who have to keep sharp and fit while quarantined in their homes. Those who do not have big yards will be in trouble as they can’t do any exercises. They can’t even jog around the yard.
But when this is over, they will have to give good performances as the games will be coming thick and fast, with the Premier Soccer League trying to wrap up the league as early as possible.
