Ex-Chiefs star set to extend AmaZulu stay

AmaZulu defender Tsepo Masilela might be on the wrong side of 30 but he has done enough this season to convince club management to extend his stay in KZN.

Usuthu’s general manager Lunga Sokhela hopes the former Bafana Bafana player can be a mentor to youngsters in the team but admits management has opposing views on the defender’s future at the club.

The former Kaizer Chiefs left-back joined Usuthu in November after spending a few months on the sidelines searching for a team.

The 35-year-old has indicated a few times that he is not in a hurry to hang up his boots as he believes he has a few seasons left in him.

“Look, Tsepo is giving us headaches. He has shown that he’s still a good player and he looks after himself,” Sokhela told Isolezwe.

“He has displayed the qualities that he has played in one of the big leagues around the world. You need a player of his quality when you build a team of youngsters.”
