‘Happy’ Khuzwayo set to stay with Chiefs

Brilliant Khuzwayo’s agent, Tim Sukazi, says the goalkeeper is happy at Kaizer Chiefs and that talks for a new contract will resume soon.

Khuzwayo, who has been playing second fiddle to Itumeleng Khune for the past five years, has been linked with a move away from Chiefs, with Cape Town City mentioned as his next destination.

The goalkeeper also fuelled speculation of his Amakhosi exit when he wrote on Twitter that “sometimes hard work isn’t enough when you don’t fit in the picture frame”.

This was viewed as a hint that he wanted out of Chiefs, however, Sukazi says this is far from the truth.

“Chiefs want us to finish talks before the end of December. People took his Twitter post out of context. He is still happy at Chiefs, and Chiefs are also happy with him,” Sukazi told IOL.

“Brilliant was indicating to other things that are outside of football. He was not trying to suggest that he is not happy at Chiefs. I had a word with him after the tweet, and he told me he is still happy at Chiefs,” explained the football agent.

Sukazi added Chiefs had expressed their desire to extend Khuzwayo’s contract.

“Chiefs want us to open talks. They want to avoid a situation where Brilliant can be in a position to talk with other teams, since his contract is expiring on June 30, 2018. In January, he can start talks with any team,” concluded Sukazi.
