Maritzburg to announce De Sa as new coach

Word coming out of the Maritzburg United camp is that the club will unveil Roger De Sa as new head coach today.

In November, Phakaaathi reported that the Team of Choice was looking to replace Ernst Middendorp with De Sa.

Now a source close to the club has confirmed to Phakaaathi that De Sa will be unveiled as the new coach today.

“De Sa was always the favourite for this job. It’s just that he was holding off for the Bafana Bafana job, but it looks like he has lost out on that one and now he has agreed to be the Maritzburg coach,” said the source.

De Sa is currently without a team after parting ways with Ajax Cape Town following a poor start to the season.

The 52-year-old coach has been linked with a move back to Orlando Pirates.

Phakaaathi was also led to believe that De Sa will be roped in as Carlos Queiroz’s assistant if he is appointed as Bafana coach later this month. But the latest news is that De Sa will indeed be the new Maritzburg coach.
