Sundowns set to sign Ghana goalkeeper – report

News coming out of Ghana is that Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly set to sign Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

According to Ghanasoccernet, the 23-year-old goalkeeper is set to land a three-year deal with the African champions.

In an interview with Empire FM in Ghana, technical director of the South African Coaches Association Sudesh Singh explained the move.

“Sundowns is looking at dominating for a foreseeable future. Currently, Pitso has invited Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori for trials, and he sees him as a better competition to Denis Onyango,” said Singh.

“I can confirm that with the little I’ve heard and seen, Richard will be a good addition to the side, and very soon he should be a Sundowns player.”

Sundowns’ foreign quota spots are currently all filled, and it remains to be see whether or not the Absa Premiership champs giants will release one player to make room for Ofori.
