Sundowns, SuperSport monitoring Matlaba’s situation

Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United are said to be observing Thabo Matlaba’s situation at Orlando Pirates.

As reported by Phakaaathi earlier this week, the defender is believed to be unhappy at the Buccaneers and is considering leaving the club at the end of the season.

Now Sundowns and SuperSport are believed to be keeping an eye on his situation and said to be ready to go into a bidding war should Matlaba opt to leave Pirates.

“Sundowns and SuperSport are very much keen to sign Matlaba, but they know that he has a contract with Pirates, so they’re waiting for him to come out and say he wants to leave before entering any negotiations with Pirates,” said a source close the player.

Sundowns have long been admirers of the Bafana Bafana defender, and they tried to sign him in June 2014, but Matlaba opted to renew his contract with Pirates instead.

SuperSport coach Stuart Baxter is also said to like Matlaba and would like him to come to Matsatsantsa a Pitori.
