Manqele told to lose weight if he wants a job

Edward Manqele has returned to Free State Stars to try and revive his career.

Manqele was released by Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season after failing to cement his place at Amakhosi having spent over three seasons with the club.

The striker is said to have gained a considerable amount of weight and it is believed that it is the reason he has not been offered a contract by Ea Lla Koto.

Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena says the club is interested in bringing the player back, but they are concerned about his weight.

“We will try and see if he can lose the weight and if that proves to be the case then we are good to go‚” Mokoena told SowetanLive.

Manqele’s career started at Stars before making a big money move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

He failed to impress and fell down the packing order at the Pretoria club and was loaned out to Moroka Swallows, where he had a good season, prompting the Sundowns technical team to recall him.

He, however, failed to maintain the form and was released and he joined Chippa United in 2014.

Manqele then joined Chiefs from Chippa in August 2015.
