Masutha is a son to me – Black Leopards owner

Black Leopards owner and chairman David Thidiela has revealed that he considers coach Joel Masutha as his own son which is why he called on him to rescue the team when he felt it was slowly sinking.

Masutha has done a sterling job in guiding Lidoda Duvha to the Absa Premiership after taking over in December.

“Masutha was brought up by me. When I took over the team in 1996 or around there, he was a young keeper. When we won promotion in 2001, he was the only goalkeeper in the team. At some point he dislocated his shoulder. He got some treatment which was not even good but he went on to play. We won promotion but unfortunately he couldn’t play in the top league. He is like a family member,” said Thidiela on Thursday.

Thidiela also said that he will not be making changes to the playing squad as he had made a promise to the players that if they get his club to the top flight they would enjoy the “milk and honey” that comes with playing in the top division.
