Maritzburg appoint Khenyeza as assistant coach

Maritzburg United have announced the appointment of Mabhuti Khenyeza as their new assistant coach to head coach Muhsin Ertugral.

This brings to an end speculation about the 36-year-old’s next move after he retired from football earlier this week.

Khenyeza is the Premier Soccer League’s second all-time top goalscorer with 110 goals, 13 goals behind former AmaZulu teammate Siyabonga Nomvethe.

Maritzburg announced Khenyeza’s appointment on their official Twitter account.

“CLUB STATEMENT: Maritzburg United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Mabhuti Khenyeza as assistant coach to Muhsin Ertugral,” read the club tweet.

Khenyeza said he was happy to start his coaching career at Maritzburg.

“Becoming a coach is something I always wanted to pursue after my playing career.

“I have kept an eye on the club over the years, and I am really happy to start my journey here,” Khenyeza was quoted as saying by the club.
