Chiefs suffer Gordinho blow

Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho has been ruled out of action for a foreseeable future after suffering from a hand fracture.

The defender, who came back to Naturena after his loan deal with Bloemfontein Celtic expired, is set to miss tonight’s clash against AmaZulu.

Gordinho sustained the injury in Chiefs’ MultiChoice Diski game at the weekend and is set to undergo surgery.

Coach Ernst Middendorp hopes the defender’s injury is not too serious and won’t keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

“We are looking forward to playing good football and get a result,” Middendorp told Chiefs’ website.

“It’s unfortunate Lorenzo Gordinho is ruled out with a hand fracture. We are still waiting for Ramahlwe Mphahlele to return to full fitness as well. We hope to not have Lorenzo out for too long,” added Middendorp. “There’s still a bit of time required to have Joseph Molangoane, Itumeleng Khune, Philani Zulu and Mulomowandau Mathoho return to action.”
